Hair trends are currently being influenced by pop culture, accelerated by Instagram and TikTok creators and iconic online celebrity moments. Growing awareness of environmental impacts has shifted some consumer preferences toward eco-friendly and low-maintenance styles, with clients increasingly seeking ways to balance beauty with sustainability. Innovations in hair dye formulations, such as ammonia-free options and long-lasting vibrant colours, are enabling more diverse and healthier colour choices across the board.
In 2025, we anticipate a striking dichotomy: ultra-natural looks versus artificial, space-age styles. This reflects the desires of a diverse clientele, most opting for sophisticated and natural tones but a few clients seeking bold self-expression. Split colours, colour flashes, and high-contrast trends will dominate in 2025, drawing inspiration from the 90s calico viral trend of 2024.
Trend 1: Celebrity-Fuelled Sunny Power Blonde (Sunflower Blonde)

This trend has been gaining momentum over the past few months, characterized by warmer honey and glazed-toned blondes. A refreshing departure from the ultra-ash tones of recent years. These softer, sun-kissed shades are a welcome infusion of warmth, offering clients a radiant, sunny alternative to flat ash blondes.
The look is inspired by the hair colour and styling of pop star Sabrina Carpenter, Kendall Jenner’s latest blonde transformation, and Lindsay Lohan’s honey-toned locks. There’s also a touch of icon Pamela Anderson, tying in her new “no-makeup” aesthetic, as the face of jewellery brand Pandora. To clarify, this is a carefully toned warm blonde, intentionally vibrant and luminous – never brassy!
Trend 2: Electric Flashes, High Contrasts and A Game of Two Halves.
Bold and dramatic dual-tone looks, such as jet black paired with icy white or fiery red contrasted with deep auburn, will take centre stage. Colour-blocking and split-dye techniques are set to remain popular, offering a daring and expressive statement for clients seeking artificial colours inspired by manga aesthetics and 90s cyberpunk influences.

Trend 3: Hypernatural Brunette, Subtle Mocha Tonal Brunettes, Smoky Bronze or Monobrown

Modern brunettes exude an image of health, enhanced by subtle dimension or simple monochrome tones. For some clients, this trend offers an opportunity to ditch lighteners, highlights, and balayage in favour of an all-over colour that immediately restores a sense of health to their hair. The result is a less “lived-in” look with a richer, shinier tone. IT&LY Hair Colours, featuring built-in e-plex to enhance shine, and our newest launch, Delyglow, infused with hyaluronic acid for added moisture, are ideal for achieving this glossy, vibrant effect.
Additionally, dark espresso and blue-black shades are set to appear this winter, heavily influenced by the dark academia aesthetic. These sultry, sophisticated tones evoke an air of mystery (as part of the dark academia fashion trend), – like stepping out of a cool, cinematic library scene.
Trend 4: A Hint of Spice, Chocolate Covered Cherry, Cinnamon and Ginger

In 2024, two distinct hair trends dominated: Cherry Coke, a rich violet-red, and Cowboy Copper, a deep, dusky auburn shade. These striking hues have inspired a new wave of spin-off shades that will shape the red and copper trends for 2025.
Expect to see slightly more subdued yet equally captivating colours such as Chocolate Cherry, a decadent fusion of red and brown; Mahogany, a timeless and elegant deep reddish-brown; and Amber Glow, a warm, golden-toned red that is softer. For those seeking a more muted take on copper, Spicy Ginger will offer a contemporary twist, blending the vibrancy of copper with rich undertones. These toned-down yet versatile shades strike a perfect balance between bold expression and everyday wearability, making them a standout choice for the coming year.
